Jon qualified from Manchester Dental Hospital in 1997 and has worked in the Macclesfield area ever since. His main aim is making your dental visit as comfortable and informative as possible, making you think about your dental and general health.
In 2018 Jon passed with distinction a Masters of Science degree in Advanced General Dental Practice from Birmingham Dental School. This course has given Jon an insight into the changing world of modern dentistry, and as clinical lead it has brought new ideas and techniques to the practice.
Jon’s favourite part of his daily work is seeing his patients. He maintains a long lasting relationship with his patients and spends time understanding and listening to their needs. It’s Jon’s caring nature that generates a relaxed and friendly atmosphere within the practice.
Jon has two beautiful daughters and enjoys spending his leisure time with his family in their caravan in Wales.
Having qualified at Sheffield University in 2000, Shanella moved to the northwest to continue her post graduate training.
She has since developed her experience in a range of dental specialities:
Maxillofacial Surgery in the 4 B's (Bolton, Bury, Burnley and Blackburn) gaining valuable training and experience in simple and more complex oral surgery procedures.
Restorative and Paediatric dentistry in Manchester University Hospital and Community Dental clinics in East Manchester.
Shanella completed her Royal College of Surgeons exams in 2003 and enjoys keeping up to date with current dental education through regular post graduate courses and her teaching role at the University of Manchester Dental school, where she is also a TMD (Temporomandibular Disorders) Specialist dentist.
Having enjoyed voluntary dental work in Tanzania in East Africa and a sabbatical period traveling and working as a Private and hospital dentist in New Zealand in 2005, Shanella settled in the northwest and alongside dentistry, also provides cosmetic facial enhancements treatments.
Shanella enjoys looking after patients, especially helping anxious patients over come their fears of dental treatment in her calm, caring and gentle manner, making the experience as relaxing as possible.
Outside of work, Shanella enjoys keeping active in the great outdoors with her husband and dog.
Mary qualified from Liverpool Dental Hospital in 1992 and worked on the Wirral for the next four years. In 1997 she was invited to join a busy practice in Congleton where she worked for 20 years gaining a reputation for providing high quality dentistry.
In 2006 she completed a 12 month course in “simply endo” to enhance her skill in providing root canal treatment and has also undertaken further study on a post graduate certificate course in endodontics at Chester University.
Mary has a wealth of experience in general dentistry, and her care and her ability to create a soothing and relaxing environment for her patients, along with her good humour has put many nervous patients at ease.
Mary is married and has a young daughter. She enjoys getting out walking in the Peaks with her family and going on activity holidays. She looks forwards to the day when she can take her daughter to see Everton win trophies again!
Craig qualified from Manchester Dental Hospital in 2004 and after a brief spell working in the hospitals returned to general dental practice. Craig was awarded a Masters Degree in Prosthodontics in 2010 and is actively involved in the teaching of post graduate students as well as lecturing across the North West.
Craig’s main area of interest is in the restoration of dental implants and the management of more complex dental problems, combining different treatment modalities to give patients more options for how to solve their dental problems. Craig regularly treats patients with intravenous sedation to help with patients anxiety levels either due to nervousness with dental treatment or due to the nature of the procedure.
In his spare time, Craig spends as much time as possible with his wife and two young boys.
Gavin graduated from the University of Manchester in 2004 with distinction and was awarded the Charles Preston Medal for his performance in his final examinations as well as the British Dental Association prize for the best overall performance throughout the final year.
Following completion of vocational training he undertook two years general professional training within the North West Deanery. During this period Gavin passed his diploma for the Membership of Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh.
Gavin’s practice is now limited to Oral Surgery and Implant Dentistry. He currently works as a Speciality Doctor in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in the Pennine Acute Trust as well as treating oral surgery referral cases in primary care under both local anaesthetic and IV sedation for NHS England. The majority of his working week is spent treating anxious patients and this is something in which he takes a lot of pride.
Gavin undertook training in implant dentistry with the Centre for Advanced Dental Education and extended his skills by successfully completing the gold standard of implant diplomas with the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners and the Royal College of Surgeons England. Gavin has recently co-authored a journal article on implant dentistry for the British Dental Journal.
Away from dentistry Gavin enjoys nothing more than spending time with his wife and two young children. He is a keen sportsman and, having accepted that his football days are drawing to a close, enjoys running, cycling and swimming as a means to keeping fit.
Gavin is happy to accept referrals for dental implants, extractions (including wisdom teeth) and treatment under IV sedation.
Harriet qualified from the University of Liverpool in 2012. She provides all aspects of general, and cosmetic dentistry with a strong focus on prevention of disease. Harriet has completed an MSc in Clinical Periodontology and will be accepting referrals for patients with periodontal issues.
Kate qualified from Liverpool dental hospital in 2004 with distinction. Joining the Bax Dental team from the opening of the practice in 2005. Kate is committed to providing the best possible care for her patients. She works closely with her patients to provide them with the skills and knowledge they need to enable them to improve and maintain healthy gums and mouth.
Kate has also been involved with the British Society for Dental Hygiene and Therapy for the last six years, which has included the role as Secretary for three years.
Kate is married with two young children and enjoys spending time with her family in their VW campervan. She is also a keen runner and has completed two marathons.
Originally from Northern Ireland, Danielle moved to England when she was accepted onto the Dental Hygiene and Therapy course at the University of Liverpool. Prior to this she started her career in the dental profession in 2012, working as a dental nurse for four years. However, Danielle soon realised she wanted to progress within the dental profession and challenge herself more. During her time on the course, she worked as a dental nurse for Bax Dental, working closely with hygienist Kate Reading, learning and gaining further knowledge and skills. Danielle qualified in 2017 and became a dental hygiene therapist at Bax Dental.
As a dental hygiene therapist, Danielle carries out a variety of treatments including dental fillings, general cleaning and periodontal treatment, tooth whitening, children's extractions and oral hygiene instructions. She is passionate about her job and enjoys treating patients, making their experience as relaxed and comfortable as possible. She enjoys getting to know her patients, building a good relationship with them and making them smile.
In her spare time, Danielle enjoys keeping fit, socialising and setting herself a challenge. She completed the Dublin Marathon last year and hopes to keep pushing herself further. She hopes to start facial aesthetics later on in the year, along with other courses to keep her knowledge and skills up to date and to a high standard; therefore, achieving best quality of care for her patients.
Emma started at the practice in 2009 as a trainee Dental Nurse. She has worked hard to become our Oral Health Educator and Senior Nurse and her knowledge is testament to all her hard work and learning. Emma has a great way with all our children and offers oral health advice to reinforce brushing and cleaning.
Emma enjoys dental nursing; however in her spare time she delights in walking her little dog Minnie and spending time with her husband and two young daughters.
Alex joined the practice as a trainee dental nurse and has since qualified in June 2020. She is a strong member of the team and her knowledge of dental nursing shows through her skills and attitude to work. When not dental nursing she enjoys spending time with her two babies - her french bulldogs!
Lynne joined Bax Dental in February 2022 and has become a valued member of the team. She has many years of experience in dentistry and some of our patients may recognise her from Macclesfield Denture Clinic. Lynne splits her time between us and the denture clinic where she has worked since 2015. She is a keen runner and has completed three marathons this year!
Joanne has been with the practice since it was established in 2005 and is one half of Bax Dental's dedicated reception team. Joanne has an amazing relationship with all of our patients with a natural skill in patient care. Her care and attention towards patients is a rare talent and something that cannot be learnt. It's this strength that allows patients to experience a friendly and comfortable patient journey as well as a few laughs when they come in to see us.
Joanne enjoys walking her dog Hugo and spending time with her twin girls and husband.
Alison is the second half of our helpful reception team and has been with us since 2011. Alison is caring, friendly and respectful and always puts the patients' needs first. Alison has the most calming presence and puts patients at ease almost instantly; her caring nature always seems to relax even the most dental phobic person.
Alison has two wonderful children and spends her down time enjoying fun with her family.
